Payment Policy
Accepted Payment Methods
Decotize accepts the payment methods listed below for all orders delivered in the United States. All payments are processed securely at checkout through Shopify Payments. Any method not listed here is not available on decotize.com.
Credit & Debit Cards
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Maestro are accepted for all US orders. All card payments are processed by our PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor.
Digital Wallets
Fast, secure mobile-first payment options. Apple Pay and Google Pay are available on compatible devices and browsers at checkout.
Available on supported mobile and desktop browsers. Requires a compatible device and enabled wallet.
Shop Pay
Shopify's accelerated checkout. If you have used Shop Pay before, your shipping and payment details are pre-filled and confirmed with a code sent to your phone.
Shop Pay is a one-time payment at checkout. We do not offer instalment plans or deferred payment of any kind.
When is payment charged?
Payment is charged at checkout — your card is only charged when you place your order.
At the moment you confirm your order and click "Place Order," your selected payment method is charged for the full order amount. No additional charges are applied after checkout unless you place a separate order. Nothing further is collected on delivery — import duties on your shipment are already included in the price you paid. Your order confirmation email serves as your receipt.
Apple Pay & Google Pay
Available on mobile devices and on desktop browsers that support these wallets (Safari for Apple Pay; Chrome, Edge, and Opera for Google Pay). Payment is authenticated directly on your device using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device PIN — your card number is never shared with Decotize.
A note on Maestro
Maestro is a Mastercard debit product that is common in Europe and rarely issued to customers in the United States. It is enabled at our checkout, but most US customers will be paying with a Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card, or through a wallet. If your Maestro card is declined, it is most likely because your issuer does not support cross-border online use of the card.
Not accepted
We do not accept PayPal, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, UnionPay, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, money orders, personal checks, gift cards from other retailers, cash on delivery, or buy-now-pay-later instalment services. Please do not attempt to send payment by any method other than those offered at checkout — we cannot allocate it to an order. If you would like to discuss an alternative payment arrangement, contact us at info@decotize.com.
Payment Security
Every transaction on decotize.com is protected by industry-leading security standards. We use Shopify Payments and certified third-party processors — your card details are handled exclusively by these certified systems and never touch our own servers.
Security standards
Every transaction is encrypted, authenticated, and processed by PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment providers.
Decotize does not process card data on its own infrastructure. All payment data is handled exclusively by Shopify Payments and our certified payment processor. We never see, transmit, or store your full card number, CVV, or sensitive authentication data at any point during or after the transaction.
SSL / TLS Encryption
All pages on decotize.com are served over HTTPS with TLS 1.2+ encryption. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted end-to-end. Look for the padlock icon in your browser address bar.
PCI DSS Level 1
Shopify Payments holds PCI DSS Level 1 certification — the highest standard in the payment card industry. This means every aspect of card data handling, storage, and transmission meets the most rigorous security requirements.
3D Secure Authentication
We support 3D Secure (3DS) for card-not-present transactions. When triggered, you may be redirected to your card issuer to verify your identity via Visa Secure, Mastercard Identity Check, or Amex SafeKey before the transaction is approved. Because our merchant account is European, 3DS is triggered more often than on a purely domestic US store.
Fraud Detection
Our payment processor uses real-time machine learning fraud detection to screen every transaction. Unusual patterns — mismatched billing, atypical order size, high-risk IP — trigger automatic review. Some orders may require additional verification before fulfilment.
No card data stored
We do not store your full card number, CVV, or card expiry date after payment is processed. Your CVV is never retained after authorization — this is a strict requirement of PCI DSS compliance. If you save a card for future purchases in your account, only a secure payment token provided by the processor is stored — never the raw card data itself.
3D Secure — How It Works
3D Secure adds a second layer of authentication at checkout. Depending on your card network, you may see:
• Visa Secure (formerly Verified by Visa)
• Mastercard Identity Check (also used for Maestro)
• Amex SafeKey
You will be redirected to your bank’s verification page to authenticate via a one-time code, app notification, or biometric. This adds no cost to your order. If the verification window closes or times out, the payment will fail and you will need to start checkout again.
Currency & Pricing
Decotize serves customers in the United States. All prices are displayed and charged in US Dollars. The currency you see at checkout is the currency you will be charged in.
Currency — USD only
Currency: US Dollar (USD — $). All prices shown are in USD, and your card or wallet will be charged in USD. We do not offer checkout in euros or any other currency.
What the price at checkout includes
The total shown at checkout is the total you pay. It includes the product price, free tracked shipping, any applicable US sales tax we are required to collect for your delivery address, and all import duties and customs clearance fees on your shipment. No carrier, courier, or customs authority will ask you for further payment on delivery.
Foreign transaction fees — bank-issued charges
Decotize is operated by KEUN Marketing B.V., a company established in Netherlands. Although your order is priced and charged in USD, your bank may classify the transaction as an international purchase and apply a foreign transaction fee (typically 1–3% of the transaction amount). This fee is charged by your bank or card issuer, not by Decotize, and is outside our control. Many US cards carry no such fee; if you are unsure, check with your issuer before ordering. The merchant descriptor on your statement will reference Decotize or KEUN Marketing B.V.
Order Authorization & Capture
Understanding how Decotize handles payment authorization and capture helps set expectations for what you see on your bank statement between the time you order and when your order ships.
Authorization Holds
For some orders, Decotize pre-authorizes your card at the time of checkout. A pre-authorization is a temporary hold that verifies your card is valid and has sufficient funds, without yet transferring the money.
During this period, the amount may show as “pending” on your bank or card statement for 1–2 business days. This is normal and does not mean you have been charged yet.
When Capture Happens
Payment is fully captured (charged) when your order is fulfilled and dispatched
You will receive an order confirmation email at the time of authorization
You will receive a shipping confirmation email when capture occurs and your order ships
Capture typically occurs within 1–3 business days of your order being placed, depending on fulfilment speed
What “pending” means on your statement
If you see a pending charge on your bank or card statement after placing an order, this is the pre-authorization hold. It is not a completed charge. The funds are simply reserved to confirm payment capability. Once your order ships and we capture payment, the pending charge becomes a completed transaction. If your order is cancelled before capture, the pending hold is released — see below for hold release timeframes.
Order cancelled before shipping
If your order is cancelled before it ships, your authorization hold will be released automatically.
We process cancellation releases as soon as the order is cancelled in our system. However, the time it takes for the hold to disappear from your statement is controlled by your bank, not by Decotize.
Hold release timeline
Authorization holds are typically released within 3–5 business days after cancellation. Some banks may take up to 7 business days, and cross-border transactions can sit at the longer end of that range. Contact your bank if the hold has not cleared after 7 days.
Already captured?
If your order was cancelled after payment capture had already occurred, you will receive a refund to your original payment method. Refund timelines are detailed in Section 06 of this policy.
Failed Payments
If your payment fails at checkout, your order will not be confirmed and no charge will be applied. Below are the most common reasons for payment failure and the steps you can take to resolve the issue.
Common Reasons for Decline
International transaction block: Your bank blocks cross-border online purchases — the most common cause on our store, since our merchant account is European
Insufficient funds: Your card or account does not have enough balance to cover the order amount
Card limit exceeded: The transaction exceeds your daily spend or individual transaction limit
Expired card: Your card’s expiry date has passed
Incorrect card details: Card number, expiry, or CVV entered incorrectly
3D Secure not completed: Authentication step was cancelled or timed out
What to Do
Double-check your card number, expiry date, and CVV and retry checkout
Confirm your billing address matches the address registered with your card issuer exactly
Try a different card — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Maestro are all accepted
Try Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Shop Pay, which authenticate on your device and sometimes clear where a manual card entry fails
Call your bank and ask them to approve an international online transaction from a Netherlands-based merchant
If the problem persists, email us at info@decotize.com
Steps to resolve a failed payment
Re-check your card details
Go back to checkout and carefully re-enter your card number, expiry date, CVV, and billing address. Small typos are a common cause of payment failure. Ensure the billing address matches your card issuer’s records exactly, including ZIP code formatting.
Complete 3D Secure if prompted
If your card issuer asks you to verify via Visa Secure, Mastercard Identity Check, or Amex SafeKey, complete the authentication step. Do not close the browser window during this step. If the window timed out, return to checkout and try again. 3DS prompts are more frequent on our store than on a domestic US retailer because our merchant account is European.
Try a wallet or a different card
If the same card continues to decline, switch to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Shop Pay, or use a different credit or debit card. Wallet payments are authenticated on your device and carry a lower decline rate on cross-border transactions. Note that we do not offer PayPal, so it will not appear as an option at checkout.
Contact your bank
Many US banks automatically block or flag online transactions with merchants outside the United States. Call the number on the back of your card, tell them you are making an online purchase from a retailer based in Netherlands, and ask them to approve it. This resolves the large majority of declines on our store.
Contact Decotize
If you have tried the above steps and are still unable to complete payment, contact us at info@decotize.com or call +31 6 45675135. Include the email address you used to check out and a brief description of the error message you received. Please note we cannot see why your bank declined a transaction — only your bank can tell you that — but we can confirm what our processor recorded.
Bank fraud triggers — important note
Heads up: US banks routinely flag purchases from merchants located abroad as potential fraud, particularly on a first-time order. If your card is declined and your balance is sufficient, your bank’s fraud prevention system has almost certainly intervened. A quick call to your bank’s fraud department to confirm the transaction is authorised by you is usually all that is needed to release the block. No issue exists on our end when this occurs, and no charge has been made to your card.
Refund Payments
When a refund is issued by Decotize, it is always returned to the original payment method used at checkout. We cannot refund to a different card, bank account, or payment method than the one used to place the order. Refund and return eligibility is governed by our Returns & Refunds Policy.
Refund method — original payment only
Refunds are always issued to the same card, Apple Pay source, Google Pay source, or Shop Pay source used when the order was placed. We are not able to redirect a refund to a different card or account. If your original card has been cancelled or replaced since the time of purchase, your bank will typically route the refund to your new card or account — contact your bank to confirm this. We cannot hold or redirect a refund under any circumstances once it has been processed on our end.
Refund processing timeline by payment method
Visa, Mastercard & American Express
5–10 business days after Decotize initiates the refund. Processing time is determined by your card network and issuing bank. You will receive a refund confirmation email from us when the refund is initiated. The actual credit appearance on your statement may lag by 1–2 additional business days depending on your bank’s posting cycle, and cross-border settlement can add a further day or two.
Apple Pay & Google Pay
Varies by bank — typically 5–10 business days. Apple Pay and Google Pay refunds are returned to the underlying card linked to the wallet, not to the wallet itself. Processing is controlled by your issuing bank and follows the same timeline as a standard card refund. Check with your bank if the refund has not appeared after 10 business days.
Shop Pay
5–10 business days. Shop Pay refunds are returned to the card stored in your Shop Pay wallet that was used for the original transaction. From that point the timeline is your issuing bank’s, not Shopify’s.
Maestro
5–14 business days depending on the issuing bank. As a debit product settled cross-border, Maestro refunds regularly sit at the longer end of this range. If your refund has not appeared after 14 business days, contact us with your order number for investigation.
Important refund rules
Refunds go back to the original payment method — no exceptions.
We cannot process a refund to a card or account that is different from the one used to place the order. This is a security requirement of our payment processor. If you have closed the account or card used, contact your bank — most banks automatically route refunds to your replacement card or account.
Partial refunds
If only part of your order is refunded (e.g., one item from a multi-item order), the partial refund amount will appear as a separate credit on your statement alongside the original charge. You will receive an itemised refund confirmation email.
Refund not received?
If 10 business days have passed since our refund confirmation email and you have not seen the credit, first check with your bank or card issuer. If they confirm nothing is pending, contact us at info@decotize.com with your order number.
Foreign transaction fees are not refundable by us: if your bank charged you a foreign transaction fee on the original purchase, that fee belongs to your bank and is not part of the amount we received or the amount we refund. Whether it is reversed on a refund is at your issuer's discretion.
Legal & Compliance
Decotize is operated by KEUN Marketing B.V., a private limited company incorporated in Netherlands (KvK 98931644, VAT NL868708598B01). Our payment processing complies with applicable Dutch and EU financial regulation, and with the consumer protection laws of the United States market we serve.
FTC Payment Disclosure
In line with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines, Decotize discloses all payment terms clearly before checkout. You are shown the full order total — including any applicable taxes, shipping, and import duties — before you confirm and pay. We do not use negative option billing, hidden autorenewal programmes, or subscription billing of any kind.
CCPA & GDPR
California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding payment-related personal data. Separately, because KEUN Marketing B.V. is established in Netherlands, our processing is also subject to the EU GDPR. Payment data (card type, last four digits, transaction amount) is collected to process your order and is not sold to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full disclosures.
3D Secure & Strong Customer Authentication
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) under the EU payment services directive applies where both the merchant's acquirer and the cardholder's issuer are in the European Economic Area. As our acquirer is European and most of our customers hold US-issued cards, SCA is generally not mandatory on your transaction — but 3D Secure is still applied as a fraud-control measure and is requested more frequently on cross-border payments than on domestic US ones. When triggered, it adds a verification step through your bank without adding cost to your purchase.
Chargeback Policy
If you believe a charge is incorrect or unauthorised, please contact us at info@decotize.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank. We maintain full order documentation including tracking records, customs documentation, payment confirmations, and fulfilment evidence. Most billing disputes can be resolved quickly and directly — a chargeback process typically takes 45–90 days and may negatively affect your account standing with your card issuer. Fraudulent chargebacks for items confirmed as delivered are a violation of our Terms of Service.
Payment data collection disclosure
What payment data we collect and why.
When you place an order, our payment processor collects the payment data necessary to complete the transaction. Decotize receives only a limited, non-sensitive summary of the transaction — not your full card details.
What we receive
Card type (e.g. Visa), last four digits of your card number, payment status (approved / declined), transaction ID, and amount. This is used to fulfil your order and for customer support.
What we never receive
Your full card number, CVV, or card PIN. These are handled entirely by Shopify Payments and our certified processor. Decotize’s systems never have access to your full card data at any point.
Data retention: Transaction records (order amount, card type, last four digits, payment status) are retained for accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance purposes in accordance with our Privacy Policy. As a Dutch company we are subject to a statutory seven-year retention obligation for accounting records under Dutch tax law, alongside applicable US record-keeping requirements.
